About a year ago God put in my heart the desire of going on a mission trip. I didn’t know where God wanted me to go, but I knew this was from God. A few months later I had the opportunity to be at the RYBA Missions Conference and there God showed me that Moldova was the place I needed to go to.
In Moldova, I had the privilege to be in an amazing and godly team with people from five different parts of the world. The team was led by a great and passionate leader for His kingdom, Aniela. It was such a great opportunity to get to know my teammates and to work alongside them in sharing the love of Jesus with others. We were placed in the city of Soroca and there we worked with kids from the city, as well as with kids from Azimut (a temporary placement center for orphans). The kids from Soroca are awesome and they are the most energetic kids I have ever met. They were very loud at times and ready to participate in all kinds of activities, such as bible games, learning verses, competitive games and in everything we would offer them to do.
Those who know me know that I am really passionate about European football, better known as soccer in the States. This hobby really helped me develop strong relationships with the boys in Soroca. Because the boys were really into football, we had such an awesome time together playing/talking about football teams and stars. Through football I tried to teach them respect, patience, good behavior on/off the field and moreover show them the way a Christian should play. When the opportunity arose, I talked with a few of the kids one on one and tried to answer to their questions about sin, God and eternity. In the days we spent with the kids I saw a hunger for love and affection, as most of them are left home alone because their parents are in other counties working. These kids are in need of someone to listen to them and give them attention and through presentation of the Good News, we pointed them toward the One who can fulfill those needs. These kids are in need of our prayers and support.
For those who feel that God is calling you to go on a mission trip, don’t hesitate in going and fulfilling the Great Commission. Looking back, this mission trip had a great impact in my life, because in helping the kids in Soroca know God more, He transformed my life, and brought me closer to Him.
